Thoughts about trivial goals
All people desire to be successful. They would like to experience success at work, at their personal life or most of the times at both, which is totally understandable. But what is success? Can money and fame define success? Well, yes but success is not just that. Another important and irreplacable element of it is the satisfaction of accomplishing your goals.
Many people work hard in order to make a big dream come true and that is remarkable. When they actually make it, they become great role models for other people, because despite the difficulties, they managed to do what they wanted in life and probably leave a great legacy behind.
So, being ambitious and making sacrificies in order to live your life as you will is extremely important. However, it will be better and easier for you if not all of your goals were so time-consuming and difficult to become reality. I'm saying that because the feeling of getting things done is the best. So, instead of waiting for your big dream to come true, set smaller goals that will be easier achieved and they will help you with your special dream. For example, if your dream is to become a photographer first start by getting a job in order to be able to afford a good camera or to pay for classes, visit art museums and learn about the history of photography and some eminent people in this sector.
Besides of the goals that may be related to your resume or generally play a role in your future career, you can spend your time trying to achieve less important but still interesting and amusing goals. Reading a book, watching all the seasons of a series, learning the lyrics of all the song in your favorite musician's album are just a few examples of trivial goals. I don't like calling them trivial but they will not help you earn money or become an active member of the society. However, if you think about it a little deeper, you'll realize that all these trivial goals can actually influence something greater than your work, they can influence yourself. Everytime you read a book, you watch a movie, you listen to a song, you see a painting or whatever you do either you like it or not, you acquire a new trait.
I recently finished reading a book and watching a tv series. The moment I finished them I felt satisfied with myself for reading and watching the whole thing and also I was amazed by their content and I knew that there were some scenes that I'll remember for a long time. I know that you don't care about all that but my point is that although having as a goal to finish a tv series sounds ridiculous, you should set it and try to achieve it, because firstly even like that you'll learn something new about yourself and secondly if that makes you happy, you should do it without caring about what others think. What is more, these ordinary goals can become your motivation for dreaming big, because if you feel satisfaction and joy for doing an insignificant action, imagine how you'll feel after checking out something important.
To sum up, my advice for a full and happy life is to always have goals that you are trying to achieve. Your list of goals should include both your ambitions and your favorite leisure activities.
