Thoughts about people's opinion

Before writing anything else, what you should keep in mind is that everyone has flaws. No one is perfect. So, you don't have to stress to impress anyone.

There are times that we hesitate to say things, do activities or generally express ourselves because we are afraid of what people may think or say about us. I'm sure that there are people who just laughted at that statement, because they do whatever they want without thinking or caring about others. However, there are those who can identify with it, since although they realize that it is a wrong notion, they can't help it but worry about people's opinions.

I hate to say it but I belong to the second category. I am not proud of it but it is something like a superstition; you know that there is no truth in it but even for a split second you think that something bad may happen if you do it. I believe that the reason for constantly expecting criticism is human nature. People want to be liked and loved. In order to make that happen we try to adjust our actions according to other people's models of proper or cool behavior.

And here is where a stop has to be put. I totally understand that you wish to have people to want to hang out with you and get to know you but you'll never achieve that if you keep changing yourself in order to look like them. If you want people to like you, first you have to love you. Only then they can see and like your true self. When you look yourself in the mirror, you should be glad for seeing your reflection. Yes, you'll notice flaws but they are parts of you and they are also important, as they remind you not to reject a person because you don't like his or her appearance but to always look deeper. Moreover, I'm sure that there is at least one thing that you see on you and you find it beautiful. Well, people see that too!

But when you see your reflection, you know that there are more than what your eyes see. I'm sure that you are a pretty awesome person with a variety of interests, talents, views and qualities. Let other people discover you and you do the same with them. Great friendships will be formed this way.

Unfortunately, you will not want to be friends with everyone. And that is completely fine. Our friends are part of ourselves, so you have to be careful and selective in order to find the right people and show them the path to your heart. You shouldn't feel bad for rejecting some people as your friends, since they will probably reject you back once they realize that you have nothing in common. Of course, that doesn't permit you to be rude or offensive towards them.

So, you keep being the crazy, awesome, shy or whatever kind of person you are without worrying about anything. The only opinion you need is yours. Don't change in sake of people that you are not 100% sure that they genuinely care about your best interest. If they are not your true friends, you shouldn't even think of changing for them.

Just stay true to you!
