Thoughts about random sadness

Do you ever feel like you are sad or upset for no reason? Do you ever have thoughts that are weird or depressing but again you don't know where they come from? Do you ever feel that you don't want or can't smile?

Pretty gloomy, right? Yes, but everyone has these days that you just want to stay in front of your computer all day or you just want to sing emotional songs and cry. Generally, you don't really want other people around but yourself and your awful mood.

I don't know if that happens to you as well but the worst part for me is that I'll just think about sad things or I'll come up with the worst scenario that can turn the best things in my life into nightmares.

But what do I do in order to feel better when the sadness gets to me? Firstly, I surrender. We are all humans and it is impossible to always be happy. It is totally normal to doubt everything and to be scared that something bad will happen or something bad has already happened and you don't know how to deal with it. So, feel free to do whatever your sadness tells you. If you ask me, I listen to sad songs. It goes without saying that hurting yourself is forbidden.

After a while, you'll get tired doing what you were doing. Then, I would take a deep breath and I would take a moment to think of all the people and all the things in my life that I am grateful for. After that, either I want it or not I smile. At this point it is worth mentioning that if you are some type of artist, for example painter or songwriter, I recommend to use your passion in order to alleviate the sadness. For instance, I write in my diary -yes, I do have a diary- my concerns and the reasons I'm feeling down.

The last step for getting over sadness is calling a friend. I understand that you may not be in the mood to go out or to socialize with other people but I can guarantee that hanging out with a friend is the easiest and fastest way to smile genuinely again.

All in all, there will be times in your life when you'll be stressed or something will get you down or you will feel sad for no reason. You just have to remember that it's okay to feel blue from time to time and that this feeling will not last for long. Happiness is out there, you just have to choose it!
