Thoughts about changing the blog's name
If you follow my blog for a while, you might have noticed that things change frequently around here. Why? Well, this blog is me and I am not a very decisive person.
For sometime now I wanted to change the title and the URL of the blog because it contained my name and it didn't feel personal enough. Or to put it correctly, I felt that by having my name on the screen people might get so caught up with it that they might read my experience and feel happy or sorry for me instead of attempting to put themselves in my shoes. In addition to that, I felt that it was a bit egotistic from my part to have my name up there and distinguish myself from the readers while my goal is to connect with them.
My initial idea was to rename my blog Eden's Corner. I found it fitting since my content is optimistic, hopeful and promotes love which are adjectives that could describe Eden as well. However, I have my insecurities and my negative thoughts that distance me from the center of the peaceful Eden garden and put me in -a sometimes dark- corner to fight with some demons. Unfortunately, that domain wasn't available. That really upsetted me as I thought it to be the perfect name but I had to think of a new one. The Sunflower Power came to mind since the sunflower is my favourite kind of flower. Again that was unavailable. After a bit of more thinking I decided on The Grey Sunflower. That grew on me because it not only combines my favourite flower and colour but also it creates the oxymoron that I intended; the sunflower is a symbol of positivity, happiness and warmth (thanks to its association with the sun) but the grey colour adds the shadows of my personal demons that are sometimes present in my posts.
So, now that the blog has a suited name I felt ready to start promoting it. At the end of the post you'll find the link of the blog's Facebook page. I would recommend checking out the page and liking it because not only will you see when I post something on the blog but also I share images, videos and stories that I find interesting, funny or generally anything that I consider worth sharing with the world.
