Thoughts AFTER my graduation 🎓
I got my degree 🎉I still can't believe that I don't have any studying to do and I am not going to go back to university in October. But a new chapter opens up and I want to make the most out of it.
Before talking about my thoughts for the future, let me tell you about my big day. It was definitely one of my favourite days. Yes, I was anxious because the room was full of strangers and I couldn't stop thinking of the seriousness of the occasion. But spotting the faces of my family and friends in the crowd and knowing that they had come all the way from their hometowns in order to support me and celebrate my success with me made me feel grateful for having them in my life. Besides the moments that I raised my eyes and I saw them looking back at me and smiling, I'll always remember the moment we all stood up, put our three fingers together, raised them and we took our oath. After the oath was uttered, they called us in an alphabetical order, we shook the hands of our professors and they handed us our diplomas.
I don't know what the rest of my colleagues did but it is like a tradition in my family after a graduation to go and have lunch all together. So, both my family and friends ate together at a beautiful tavern. To be honest, I was closer to my friends and I didn't get the chance to talk a lot with my family or to bring my family and my friends closer but I hope that everyone felt comfortable and had a good time. I did for sure.
As for the near future, my plan is to find a job. I'm looking for people -no matter their age- who would like to learn or improve their English. Either individual or group lessons are fine with me. At the same time with my search for a job, I try to gain experience in translation by volunteering as a translator at TED. At the moment, I'm working on my first translation for this organisation. The reason that I love translation and TED is because they both give me the opportunity to learn things that I wouldn't probably care to research and learn on my own. Additionally, I'll start looking for a master in literature. This is my next big goal/dream that I'll try to achieve but first I need to gather money for it.
I would like to conclude this post by saying that each moment in our lives is unique. It is impossible not to experience upsetting, sad or depressing moments due to personal insecurities, mistakes, interpersonal conflicts, egotism or external factors. Try to learn a lesson that will make your life better in the future from the bad moments and enjoy and cherish the happy ones with the people you love. And happy moments don't have to be something grand necessarily, like a graduation, but they can be something small, like a hug, a study session, a night out or in with your friends or generally whatever brings a genuine smile on your face. Thus, whatever happens in life, keep that genuine smile and deal with the obstacles so that you can be proud of yourself and enjoy the reward and the happy moments for overcoming all the difficulties that came your way, and in the end, they just made you stronger and wiser.
