My Favourite Books π

A new era starts for our corner of the internet. As the new name suggests, this blog will focus on books, but it will still be a safe place to explore life and share opinions and experiences. I was struggling to decide what my first post after all the changes should be about. Thankfully, it didn't take me long to realise that if I wanted you to stick around, you should know what you're getting yourself into. So, I'm sharing some of the books that made me fall in love with reading and writing.
1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
2. Wuthering Heights by Emily BrontΓ«
I read this book because I had to write a research paper for a Gothic course at university. Although the assignment turned out awful, I loved the book and I had the time of my life researching and studying about the two protagonists. Catherine and Heathcliff's love story might be tragic, but they taught me a lot about the complexities of human heart. And Wuthering Heights must be the most—or at least one of the top—iconic settings in classic literature.
3. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
Trigger warning about pretty much everything. Reading this book is hard. However, I am glad that I did as I was reminded that no matter how terrible obstacles life throws at us, there will always be something or someone that can bring light to our lives. And most importantly, no life is without value. It might be difficult for us to realise the impact we have on other people's life, but for better or for worse, humans are indeed social beings. So, we should be mindful and try our best to be a good influence on our friends, just like Jude, Willem, Malcolm, and JB were for one another.
4. i'm thinking of ending things by Iain Reid
As you can imagine, this book was a major inspiration for the title of this blog. The fact that the book became an instant favourite of mine says a lot. Readers feel the creepiness of the book, but they need to reach the end in order to put all the puzzle pieces together and be certain about what was going on all along. It combines themes about human relationships, psychology, and philosophy with thriller and suspense elements. No breakup ended up being so difficult as the separation that the narrator is considering.
And now that you know my all-time favourite books, I think that it is only fair that you share your favourite book(s) in the comments below.
