Action Movies Every Day
I don't know if you can tell by reading my posts but I am the type of person who likes having a routine. However, I also like to spice things up from time to time. So, I thought that it would be a good idea to share the times that I feel adventurous and I seek a change.
The last time that I felt that need was the last week of September. As you can guess from the title, I watched one action movie every day for that week. Before you go ahead and click away from the post thinking that this is not a challenge, let me say that I am not a fan of this type of movies, so it was a fine challenge for me. Without further ado, let's see how I did.

If you had read my September Favourites post, you know that I love going to outdoors cinemas. So, on Monday I went to one and I watched Johnny English Strikes Again (2018). I hadn't seen the other Johnny English movies but I could easily follow the plot. It was actually a pretty funny movie and I would recommend gathering your friends and watching it, as I'm sure that you'll have a blast.

From now on I decided to choose well-known movies that are considered by many as paragons of action movies. And the first movie that I thought of that corresponded to that description was the Taken (2008). I really enjoyed the movie and I appreciated the fact that we have time to get to know our protagonist, as he meets and interacts with people at the beginning who do not affect the plot later, which also attributes to the realism of the movie.

On Wednesday, I chose the first Mission: Impossible (1996). It may be the oldest movie so far but I think that it is the best directed one. It was obvious that despite of the story, the art of making a movie was dominant in the minds of the creators. The innovative camera angles is what I appreciated the most about the direction.

The only movie that I didn't have fun watching was The Terminator (1984). It had a cool concept but I found the movie boring and I actually caught myself thinking that it would be much more entertaining if the Terminator captured and killed the two protagonists.

And now the best of all the action movies that I watched the whole week: John Wick (2014). He is the best good and the best bad guy at the same time. Besides of the interesting plot, what I really liked was the lighting and the colors used. John not only was dressed in black suits but the whole world around him was grey and full with cool colors, which symbolize how much misery and sadness he feels.

That day was a fail, as I watched no movie but there was an important reason for that. You can find out the reason by reading my Thoughts about my dream job.
30 September 2018
Lastly, I wanted to bring the week and the post in full circle by watching an action/comedy kind of a movie. The Expendables (2010) has a lot of comic elements even though I feel that some of the things that caused laughter were by accident, because in reality the creators intended to just make the characters look cool. Some things didn't make sense and the characters were one-dimensional but there was a lot of action and it was a fun movie to watch.
What is your favorite action movie?
